Three things, then you can stop reading

Coming alone is normal
We rotate partners every round, so nobody needs to bring one. Come by yourself and you will still play every hand, with a different person across from you each time.

No experience needed
Say you are new and we will sit you with someone patient. You will be playing real hands within 15 minutes and having strong opinions about trump shortly after.

It is at a brewery
Free. Buy a beer. That is the whole deal. Fifth Ward Brewing is letting us take over their tables, so be nice to the bartender.

We are always the third Tuesday of every month, 6:30 to 9:00 pm. Easy to remember. Easier to forget, so put it in your calendar.

The short version
Euchre in 30 seconds
Euchre is a trick-taking game, like spades or hearts, only faster and much more Midwestern. A hand takes about two minutes.
- 24 cards
- Nines through aces. The rest of the deck sits this one out.
- 4 players
- Everybody plays every hand. Almost always.
- 2 teams
- Your partner sits across from you, safely out of kicking range.
- 5 tricks per hand
- Win three of them and your team scores.
- 10 points to win
- Which takes about half an hour. Then you shuffle and go again.
The one weird rule
The jacks. Two of them (the bowers) jump ahead of the ace and become the best cards in the deck, and one of them changes suit to do it. It sounds made up. It is not, and we will explain it at the table.

Who is behind this
We are two friends who wanted to play euchre on a weeknight in Oshkosh and could not find a game with an open seat, which felt like a solvable problem.
So we asked a brewery, they said yes, and now this is our fault.

Questions people actually ask
Do I need a partner?
No. We rotate partners through the night, so coming alone is normal and nobody sits out waiting for a plus one.
Do I need to know the rules?
No. Tell us you are new and we will put you with someone who can talk you through your first few hands. Nobody at this table was born knowing what a bower is.
How much does it cost?
Free. Buy a beer.
How old do I have to be?
21+ (it's a brewery)
What if I can only stay an hour?
Fine by us. It is a progressive format, so you can tap out between rounds without leaving anyone stranded.
Can I bring friends?
Please. Bring three and you have a whole table.
Is it competitive?
Enough to be fun. Not enough to be annoying.
